With almost twenty-five years of experience in the field of architecture and engineering David Tidwell has enjoyed the challenges that the technological explosion has brought to the field of Architecture.  As a professor of Architecture he has been at the forefront of environmentally conscious design and construction.  His course "Environmental Control Systems" taught at RISD focuses on the complex interrelationships between energy, site, building materials and technology.  He has focused on the role of architect as educator, leader and innovator in the struggle to stimulate a more sustainable built environment.

In addition to his role as an educator, Mr. Tidwell has for almost twenty years been at the forefront of Historic Preservation.  In 1989 he began work on the rehabilitation of the Nightingale Brown House in Providence, RI. This structure is the largest wood frame Federal era house in the country. The entire building was disassembled, recorded and Mr. Tidwell was responsible for analyzing and designing a structure that would allow the building to function as a modern office structure for Brown University.

With over twenty years of experience in the field of structural engineering Loren Yoder has become a leader in the field of structural engineering throughout Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Mr. Yoder has essentially reinvented the working interface between Structural Engineers and Architects.  Yoder + Tidwell’s success relies on the unique role we play in the design process. Unlike other, traditional structural engineering entities, Yoder + Tidwell acts like an in-house engineer to owners, contractors and architects. Our goal is to make the distinction between architect and engineering consultant almost transparent.  The process of structural design, therefore, exists within the parameters of the architectural design rather than another separate entity. Our methodology allows much greater freedom to the designer and typically leads to more economical designs with lower construction costs.
